Approach
ADVISE
SSI advises established cultural organizations and enterprises on strategy, financial planning, governance, and organizational development. An engagement may address the organization as a whole or a specific question, such as international expansion, a financial or operating model, board development, a major partnership, or the stewardship of an artist’s legacy, collection, or archive.
Scott Stover examines how the organization currently operates, whether its ambitions correspond to its capacity, and which changes are feasible. The result may be a new direction, a revised structure, or a sequence of decisions the organization can implement.
BUILD
A new organization is not always the right answer. SSI first considers whether an initiative requires an independent entity or could be developed through a partnership or within an existing organization.
When a new organization or initiative is appropriate, SSI tests its feasibility, defines its mission, assesses the competitive environment, develops its financial and operating model, designs its governance, forms its board, establishes partnerships, prepares budgets, and coordinates specialist advisers. Scott Stover remains involved throughout development, allowing the plans to respond to financial, institutional, and practical requirements as they emerge.
LEAD
For selected clients, Scott Stover serves as Founding Executive Director, Executive Director, or CEO, taking responsibility for establishing and leading the organization. Depending on the assignment, he may recruit and direct the professional team, work with the board, oversee budgets and operations, develop programs and partnerships, and manage external relationships and communications.
Executive leadership provides continuity between strategy and operation. Scott Stover remains responsible for carrying strategic decisions into practice and adapting them as the organization develops.
INTERNATIONAL PRACTICE
Based in the United States and Europe, SSI leads projects across the United States, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East. International assignments may require coordination across several jurisdictions. Scott Stover brings in local and international specialists while retaining responsibility for the engagement’s overall direction.
